Milton Soup Sisters

Soup Sisters is excited to launch our newest chapter in September 2017!

We are proud to partner with the staff at Gordon Food Services for bi-monthly soup making events that support the women and children of Halton Women’s Place.

Halton Women’s Place provides a safe haven for women and their children who are experiencing domestic violence and abuse. Emergency shelter, clothing, and meals are offered as well as counseling and strategies to empower the women to make decisions about their safety, their rights, and their future. They are comprised of two separate shelters; one located in Milton with 22 beds, and another located in Burlington with 30 beds. Halton Women’s Place is dedicated to increasing public awareness of domestic violence by providing education in the hope of ending violence against women and children.

For over 115 years, Gordon Food Services has delivered expertise, and quality products their customers. They believe in the power of good food – to bring people together and make moments special. Events at Gordon Food Services will be lead by either Chef David Evans, Jason Kalinowski or Scott Mcdeivitte. Gordon Food Service has a deep commitment to supporting a number of community-based charities. In their capacity as a food service provider, they are in a unique position to make a contribution to various charities and food banks across the nation. These donations are ongoing throughout the year.

Soup Sisters and Broth Brothers charge a $55 participation fee per person to cover the expenses of ingredients for the soups, the venue, equipment, supervision, and a Chef or professional facilitator. This ensures that the finest ingredients possible are used every time for the soups we provide to women, children and youth. Events are social evenings with lively conversation, chopping, laughter and warm kitchen camaraderie that culminate in a simple, sit-down supper of soup, salad, bread and wine for all participants. Each event produces approximately 150-250 servings of fresh soup that sustains your local shelter with nourishing and nurturing soup each month.
