This new Milton business offers a wide variety for plant lovers
Variety of rare and classic house plants offered
Lucy Ofori admits she is not a natural green thumb. But she has always loved plants.
“I probably have 100 plants in my house,” she says.
While her plants used to struggle, it wasn’t from neglect. It was simply from not knowing how to best care for them. Some need to be watered daily, but that was not good for the health of others.
Ofori began learning more about plants and their care while doing research to create all-natural skin products. Her newfound knowledge about the plants only added to Ofori’s fondness for them. Now, with the opening of her plant boutique, Gro For It, she hopes to share her love of all things natural.
“I wanted to bring my love of plants to the people of Milton,” she says.
Gro For It offers a wide variety of rare and classic houseplants, as well as plant-based or plant-inspired products, including the Skintensely Smooth skin care products she started online two years ago.
The store also has gift items such as pottery, pet products, macramé, hats and socks and aromatherapy products. Many of the products, including cards and prints from local artists, are from other businesses in town.
“I wanted to take the opportunity to support other small businesses in the shop,” she said.
Ofori said having plants in your house can have a positive effect on your mood.
“We’re living in concrete jungles,” she said. “We’re not surrounded by too much nature.”
